Summary Description:

Cognascents is looking for a Business Development Manager with strong business acumen and industry expertise to take ownership of end-to-end business development activities. Cognascents is looking for an individual that wants to play an integral role in helping the organization achieve the next growth phase.

This individual will be responsible and accountable for identifying and pursuing opportunities with new and existing customers, developing and nurturing relationships, leading the identification and development of opportunities, creating winning proposals and presentations, and successfully closing the business.

Essential Job Function:

As a Business Development Manager, your essential job functions will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Provide strategy development and solution development to support new business activities and existing client relationships;
  • Originate, qualify, and close new opportunities for Cognascents with our clients across our engineering services, including process safety, asset integrity, process engineering, and risk management services;
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals and presentations to existing or prospective customers emphasizing the benefits and value proposition of Cognascents’ solutions and services;
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the current market environment including knowledge of primary competitors and their products and services;
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and report sales forecast and backlog;
  • Continuously look for ways to improve our customer’s experience;
  • Provide expertise, advice, and recommendations to the senior leadership in relation to business development and marketing for new services; and
  • Evaluate expenditures and effectiveness of marketing and advertising for media, trade shows, market research, focus groups and public relations and adjust accordingly.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience in the upstream, downstream, or chemical industry;
  • 5+ years of business development experience in the engineering services segment;
  • Polished oral and written communication skills;
  • Innovative and creative problem-solving skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree (Chemical or Mechanical engineering preferred); and
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements vary throughout the year, but no more than 30% travel is anticipated.
