Case Study
Reliability Program Improvement & Execution
Client: NGL Operator | Location: Texas, USA
Our client had previously engaged a different engineering consultancy to implement a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), conduct a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) study, and deliver a targeted maintenance regime. Despite these efforts, the client continued to experience equipment failures and poor plant reliability.
Our Solution
- Refined the RCM results to ensure the proper maintenance strategy had been identified considering recent failures.
- Performed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on reoccurring failures, including a pump in which the root cause was improper setup of thrust bearing discovered by leveraging an amplification camera.
- Implemented Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) providing the client a method to report, classify, analyze, and respond to failures.
- Optimized Condition Monitoring by enhancing the method and scope of condition monitoring tasks and integrating the results into the CMMS for automated work order generation.
- Embedded Reliability Engineer onsite to provide ongoing support with bad actor management and proper work order execution.
The Benefits
- Improved Reliability of the plant by addressing the root cause of reoccurring failures which were attributed to factors beyond improper maintenance.
- Enhanced Bad Actor Management through the implementation of FRACAS to systematically address and prevent recurring issues.
- Streamlined Condition Monitoring by integrating with the CMMS and optimizing methods and scope.
